All of you overlanding enthusiasts know how important a good night's sleep is after driving for most of the day. While you can sleep in your car and it would save you a decent amount of money, a good and reliable roof top tent would make a big difference. With that said let's introduce the GoFSR Evolution V2 RTT.

Before going into any details we must mention that this roof top tent has 2 sizes; Evolution V2 Standard, and Evolution V2 XL. Both of the roof top tents have a 2-person sleeping capacity except that the long version offers a little bit more space for all of you taller campers out there. The shorter version is also designed to fit the shorter truck beds.

This is a hard shell roof top tent and it is not a budget-friendly one. However, it does offer a lot of great features that will make your next overlanding trip a lot more fun. So without further ado let's get into it.

Pop Up Hard Shell Roof Top Tent

As we already mentioned this is a hard shell RTT and it is a pretty sturdy one. It has a rugged, lightweight, aluminum case construction with the honeycomb top that all of the FSR roof top tents have to offer. The body of this tent can endure pretty much any either condition there is. Speaking of the hard shell, it features channels that you can use to mount a variety of accessories and tool mounts. 

It's even so strong that you could attach an awning to the side of it! This Free Spirit Evolution tent comes with its own crossbars which you can use to mount things such as kayaks, skis, bikes, or even extra luggage. As long as it's under 220 lbs you can carry it on top of your RTT. One unique thing about this Free Spirit roof top tent is the slatted bottom design.

Above it is an EPE fully weather-sealed pad which when combined with the slats allows the tent to breathe and minimizes the condensation inside. This RTT is only 9.75" tall when folded and is one of the most aerodynamic tents on the market right now. Another thing that is included is the aluminum telescoping ladder which can extend up to 8 ft and can accommodate most vehicle heights.

All Season Roof Top Tent

The body of the tent has a tri-layer material which consists of 3 layers of 150D Poly-Oxford with 90g/M2 Poly-fil. That gives this tent one of the best insulation there is to keep you warm on those cold nights and even keep you cool and protected from the sun.

This tent is even more ruggedized than its predecessor, the Free Spirit Evolution, which makes it very reliable and durable in pretty much any weather condition. There are air vents that will keep you and your fellow camper cool during hot summer days and minimize the condensation even more.

You can however use the flaps on the inside to seal off said vents when it gets too cold. They just add even more to the insulation of the tent. This Free Spirit roof top tent also features a rain guard that can act as an awning. That way you don't have to close up your tent when it's raining or snowing and you would still be protected from outside elements.

Air Core Mattress

This is a very spacious tent with a bunch of headroom that comes with a big mattress which is almost queen size. 2 people can sleep inside comfortably and there would even be room for your child! This tent also has blackout fabric which blocks out the sunlight and lets you sleep well past sunrise.

Another big improvement on this Free Spirit Evolution V2 RTT is the 3" thick self-inflating Air Core mattress. It is one of the most comfortable mattresses to sleep on and it gives you the ability to inflate and deflate the mattress to your desired comfort.

If you like a firm mattress there is an optional pump for it. Now a very cool thing about this new mattress design is that you can deflate it completely when not using the tent so you could make even more storage room when the RTT is closed,

Free Spirit Roof Top Tent Storage And Accessories

We mentioned a lot of great features but this roof top tent still has more to offer. First, let's mention all the storage pockets and shoe bags that are included. There are foldable shoe bags on the outside of the tents which let you store and organize your footwear so that you can keep the inside of your tent clean and clutter-free.

There are 4 dump pockets that you can use to store away some smaller things such as your electronics, camping gear, or even toiletries. Then there are bigger pockets that hang from the roof of the tent and you will even find cargo net pockets which you can use to store away some of the larger things such as your clothes.

Now since this tent has blackout fabric it tends to get a bit darker inside. That's why there is an LED light that can be dimmed to your liking. All you would need to power it is a simple USB power bank. Another unique accessory is the vent on the top of the RTT which you can open and let all the hot air rise and that way cool the tent.

Evolution V2 Windows And Zippers

All of the windows as well as the entry point have separated tri-layer fabric and mesh fabric that keeps all the insects out of your tent. That way you can still look outside your tent without worrying that anything will come inside it.

Both the mesh window and the tri-layer window have their own zippers so that you can open either one of them according to your needs. Even the side windows of this Free Spirit roof top tent have been upgraded from 2 separate zippers to 1 consecutive one.

There are window openings on all sides of this Evolution roof top tent so that you could enjoy the scenery around you. The zipper mechanism is also very smooth which will make opening and closing said windows a breeze.
